Thomas C. Südhof
Dr. Südhof is also Professor of Molecular Genetics and Chair of the Department
of Neuroscience at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas.
He received his M.D. degree from the University of Göttingen in Germany and performed
his doctoral thesis work in the laboratory of Victor Whittaker at the Max Planck
Institute for Biophysical Chemistry, Göttingen. He was a postdoctoral fellow in
the laboratories of Michael Brown and Joseph Goldstein at the University of Texas
Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas. Dr. Südhof is a recipient of the 2004 Bristol-Myers
Squibb Award for distinguished achievement in neuroscience research and the 2004
MetLife Award for research in Alzheimers disease. He is a member of the National
Academy of Sciences.
