Minoru S. H. Ko received both his M.D. (1986) and Ph.D (1991) from Keio University School of Medicine, Tokyo, Japan. He subsequently moved on to become a research scientist (1988-1991) and group leader (1991-1992) at the Furusawa MorphoGene Project, ERATO, JST, Tsukuba, Japan. Following this, Dr.Ko was appointed assistant professor (1992-1997) and then tenured associate professor (1997-1998) at the Center for Molecular Medicine & Genetics, Wayne State University, Detroit, Michigan, USA. Since 1998, he has been Senior Investigator and Chief of the Developmental Genomics and Aging Section, Laboratory of Genetics, National Institute on Aging (NIA), NIH, Baltimore, Maryland, USA. He also served as a head of the NIA Mouse cDNA Project from 1998-2004. The long-term goal of his research is to understand the structure and dynamics of gene regulatory networks in early embryos and stem cells, and to apply them to replacement therapy for aging and dysfunctional cells and organs. |
