Rachel grew up in New Jersey in the United States and studied biology at Haverford College in Pennsylvania. She received her doctorate in Cell Biology from Yale University in 2017. Her graduate work focused on studying how the integration of the nucleus into the cytoskeletal-adhesion network in keratinocytes influences fundamental cellular functions and, at a larger scale, tissue integrity. To explore her interest in developmental biology, she moved to the Wang lab in early 2018, and is currently studying how nuclear properties contribute to morphogenesis. When she’s not in the lab, she enjoys traveling in Japan and abroad, visiting shrines and temples, spending time in nature, and working on art projects.
