Laboratory for Epithelial Morphogenesis at Riken Center for Developmental Biology

Welcome to our lab homepage! We are interested in how complex epithelial structures are formed during animal development. We use an interdisciplinary approach that integrates Drosophila genetics, quantitative live imaging and computational image processing in hope to uncover novel molecular and mechanical mechanisms that underlie tissue construction and remodeling. Our long-term goal is to link developmental patterning process to 3D tissue structure formation and to conceptualize an evolutionary theory for morphological diversity.
