Satoshi Sawai
Satoshi Sawai is Associate Professor at Graduate School of Arts and Sciences,
University of Tokyo. His interest lies in understanding and manipulating
self-organizing spatio-temporal patterns at cell and multi-cell level.
In particular, his lab focuses on periodic organization of actin cytoskeleton
and cAMP oscillations in social amoeba Dictyostelium. He received his Ph.D
in 2001 for his graduate studies on nonlinear dynamics and pattern formation
under Prof. Yasuji Sawada at Tohoku University. Later he joined the lab
of Edward C. Cox at the Department of Molecular Biology, Princeton University,
In 2005, he moved back to Japan to take part in the JST-funded research
project (ERATO) lead by Prof. Kunihiko Kaneko He is appointed the current
position at the University of Tokyo from 2008.
