Science, the University of Tokyo in 1994, and received his Ph.D. from Department
of Genetics, Graduate School of Advanced Studies in 1998. He worked as
a researcher and then group leader at Systems Biology Group, ERATO Kitano
Symbiotic Systems Project, Japan Science and Technology Corporation (1999–2001),
and was an associate professor at Keio University (2002–2006). In the meantime,
he also worked as a visiting associate at Control and Dynamical Systems,
California Institute of Technology (2000-2002). He joined RIKEN Genomic
Sciences Center as a senior scientist in 2006, and became a team leader
at RIKEN Advanced Science Institute in 2008, a team leader at RIKEN Planning
Office for the Center for Computational and Quantitative Life Science in
2010 and then a team leader at RIKEN Quantitative Biology Center in 2011.
