Michael J. Depew
Michael J. Depew received his B.A. in Integrative Biology (emphasis on Human Anatomy, Physical Anthropology and Evolution) from the University of California, Berkeley in 1991 and his Ph.D. from the University of California, San Francisco in 2002, where his work emphasized how the interactions of Distal-less (Dlx) homeobox genes and the secreted growth factor Fgf8 regulate jaw development. He has since moved to King’s College London, where he is Lecturer of Craniofacial Development and Evolution in the Department of Craniofacial Development. The focus of his lab continues to be on craniofacial development, with particular emphasis on the development and evolution of jaw pattern and polarity and the interplay between establishing early neural plate pattern and establishing early circa-stomodeal ectodermal pattern.
