James W. Truman earned his Ph D at Harvard University in 1970, and went on to serve as a junior fellow in the Harvard Society of Fellows until 1973 before receiving an assistant professorship in zoology at the University of Washington. He was appointed Professor of Zoology at the same institution in 1978, and was named Professor of Biology in 2003. Dr Truman has published extensively in the fields of insect endocrinology, neurobiology and development. A recent focus of his work has been on developmental timing mechanisms in Drosophila. He serves or has served on the editorial boards of numerous journals, including the Journal of Zoology, American Zoologist, Developmental Biology and the Journal of Neuroscience. James W. Truman
