Mike Jones
Mike Jones received his B.S.
from Rhodes College (USA) in 1985 and
his Ph. D. from Vanderbilt University
School of Medicine, Department of Cell
Biology in 1992. The following year, he
was made a Howard Hughes Medical Institute
postdoctoral fellow, serving briefly in
the same department before moving to London
to take a fellowship in the Laboratory
of Developmental Biology at the National
Institute for Medical Research (UK). He
remained at the NIMR until 1998, when
he was appointed Team Leader of the Section
of Gene Function and Regulation at the
Institute for Cancer Research (UK), serving
in that position until 2004. He now heads
a research program at the Centre for Molecular
Medicine in the Singapore Biopolis. His
research utilizes Xenopus embryos
in combination with other vertebrate model
systems and strives to understand the
cell-to-cell signalling events that govern
early pattern formation in the vertebrate
embryo. |
