Mark Krasnow

Mark A. Krasnow received his Ph.D. in biochemistry in 1983, and his M.D. in 1985 from The University of Chicago. He did his postdoctoral work at Stanford University. He was appointed professor at Stanford since 1988 and serves as the Executive Director of the Wall Center for Pulmonary Vascular Disease. His research is focused on lung stem cells, and how their control programs are altered in disease. His group develops and uses state-of-the-art genetic and genomic approaches in mouse and human to identify and characterize stem cells and stem cell niches, and the molecular programs and mechanisms that govern their properties and behaviors.
