Shingo Kajimura
Shingo Kajimura, PhD, is an Associate Professor with joint appointments in the Diabetes Center and the Department of Cell and Tissue Biology at University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). He received a doctorate degree in 2006 from the University of Tokyo and completed postdoctoral training in molecular metabolism until 2008 with Bruce Spiegelman at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Harvard Medical School. He became an Instructor at Harvard Medical School from 2009 until joining the UCSF faculty in 2011 as an Assistant Professor. The main focus of the Kajimura Lab is to uncover the molecular basis of energy homeostasis with a special focus on thermogenic fat (brown fat and beige fat). He has received the Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers (PECASE) from the White House, and was named a Pew Scholar in 2013 and a Mallinckrodt Scholar in 2017. |
