Zhenbiao Yang
Zhenbiao Yang received his Ph.D. degree in molecular plant pathology from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (VPI&SU) in 1990. He then did his postdoctoral training in the Department of Botany at University of Maryland and remained there until 1993. After returning for a brief stint as Senior Research Scientist at the Plant Molecular Biology Lab at VPI&SU, he joined faculty of the Department of Plant Biology and Biotechnology Center at Ohio State University as Assistant Professor from 1994-1999. Dr. Yang moved to the Department of Botany and Plant Sciences at University of California at Riverside in 1999 to assume a position as Assistant Professor. He was appointed Associate Professor in 2001, and Professor in 2003 in the Center for Plant Cell Biology of the same institute. He serves on the editorial board of many journals, such as Genetics and Genomics, Cell Research, and Molecular Plants and has recently taken on an additional position as Editor of the journal, Plant Cell and Physiology in 2008.
His group focuses on determining the molecular basis for cell polarity development/cell shape formation and the signaling networks controlled by a plant-specific GTPase switch called Rop.
