CDB scientist receives MEXT Prize

April 28, 2014 - CDB Team Leader Mitsuru Morimoto (Laboratory for Lung Development) was honored with a commendation for Science and Technology from the Minister of MEXT (the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology) at a ceremony held on April 15. This prize is announced annually, recognizing individuals who have made significant achievements in science and technology in research and public outreach.

Morimoto received the Young Scientist’s Prize, awarded specifically to young scientists in recognition of groundbreaking and creative scientific research and achievements, for his study of the intercellular signals leading to functional patterning of tissues. His main research interest is to elucidate the mechanisms of organ formation, repair and regeneration, using the mouse respiratory system as a model.
