Brief Bio | Dr. Carl-Philipp Heisenberg studied Biology at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität in Munich, did his PhD work in the lab of Christiane Nüsslein-Volhard at the Max Planck Institute for Developmental Biology in Tübingen, and worked as a postdoctoral fellow in the lab of Stephen Wilson at University College London. In 2000 he moved to the Max Planck Institute of Molecular Cell Biology and Genetics in Dresden as an independent group leader and currently works as a principal investigator at the IST Austria in Klosterneuburg close to Vienna. His principle interests concern morphogenesis, particularly the complex movements occurring during grastrulation, which his laboratory studies using a combination of genetic, cell biological, biochemical and biophysical techniques. |
