New research programs at CDB |

October 20, 2009 – On October 1st, the organizational structure of the Center for Developmental Biology was changed to add a new category of research laboratory designated the Center Director’s Strategic Program. This new program will allow for concentrated focus on priority areas of research determined by the CDB Center Director.
The initial research programs are Systems Biology (led by Hiroki R. Ueda; Project Leader) and Pluripotent Stem Cell Studies (led by Hitoshi Niwa; Project Leader); these Project Leaders will serve concurrently as Team Leaders of their respective labs until the end of the 2009-10 fiscal year. The initial term for Center Director’s Program labs is 10 years.
Also on October 1st, Douglas Sipp was appointed to head a new Unit for Science Policy and Ethics Studies in the Division of Human Stem Cell Technology (Yoshiki Sasai; Group Director).
